20 May 2008, Weather turns foul, 34 37.453 N/ 076 32.761 W

As predicted, the weather deteriorated last night with heavy weather for today. Yep. It was blowing 25-30 kts today after last night's tornado warnings a really scary weather 'image'. A coast Guard vessel anchored near us during the night. I guess they were staying out of the weather until they were needied. No outside passage for us. Tomorrow we will head for Beaufort and then the Pungo River. Not bad.

21 May 2008, Heading for Pungo, 35 32.781 N/ 076 28.658 W

We left Cape Lookout at 0545 (daybreak) and headed for the Beaufort Inlet. We did not plan on a Beaufort stop as it has become expensive and somewhat unfriendly. We normally stop at R.E. Mayo in Hubucken NC but we needed to make time while we had daylight. Sammy Jane was content on our choice of destinations as she slept much of the time down below and the rest of the time at watch (picture). The weather was good for motor sailing but too weak and inconsistent for sailing alone. The life of the coastal cruiser!
