16 Feb 2012, Thursday at El Colegio Arco del Arca, Caballona, 18 29.4 N/ 070 00.852 W

The trip to Caballona has a bit long as we had to drive through Santo Domingo during rush hour. In addition, we were running a bit late as Jhonn and the gang had to deliver the additional boxes to San Rafael. The kids were patient and eagerly awaiting our arrival. We met in a courtyard where all of the kids were sitting in their chairs. No running around and no noise. Amazing. The distribution was executed without flaw and both kids and team were well rewarded. Not bad.
Between distributions, we were asked to visit Paster Fidel at his office in downtown Santo Domingo. There we met some of the ranking members of the Pentacostal movement in the Dominican Republic. This time also gave us a chance to catch up with the other activities that were planned for our visit. After a couple of meetings, we headed for our next visit.
The afternoon saw us at Campechito Villa Mella in Santo Domingo Norte. As usual Jhonn pumped up the crowd with songs and cheers, one of our team would then recite an inspirational passage, followed by shoe boxes and lots of smiles and expressions of amazement (this guy was not sure what he was supposed to do). Afterwards we packed up our stuff and headed back to the casa.

17 Feb 2012, Sabana Perdida el Milloncito, 18 33.06 N/ 069 51.54 W

Today is our last distribution for our team. Paster Fidel will sponsor other teams during the month of March but our time here is nearing an end. Our final distribution is in a modest community in Santo Domingo Norte, not too far from yesterday's trip. The church is quite small and packed with niņos of all ages. The distribution goes without a hitch and there are smiling faces everywhere. Joselo and his crew provided excellent assistance and protection throughout our journey. Muchas gracias!
Now a time for a little fun in the shopping district of Santo Domingo. Altagracia took us to a friend's shop and bought each of us a present. Very nice! Of course, Alfie and Collin serenaded us with their music (?) while we were shopping. Afterwards, the group headed for a quick sightseeing trip through the colonial district where we saw old churches, forts, and Columbus stuff. We kept going until it got really dark.
