18 Mar 2013, From Marsh Harbour to Vero Beach, 27 20.352 N/ 079 43.902 W

We left around noon yesterday, waiting on a favorable tide, exited the Sea of Abaco via the North Channel (Man-o-War Cay), and headed west along the 100 fathom line. We had a favorable current thought the day and night. Wow, our luck has changed. Or had it? This morning, when we entered the main Stream, we are getting predicted winds of ESE@10-15 kts on the beam but very short period waves (3-4 second period) which made for a lumpy ride. But wait, the inlet at Fort Pierce was waiting for us with squalls, wind against current, and lousy visibility. At least the boat got a nice wash. We anchored just outside the turning basin in the Fort Pierce harbor.

19 Mar 2013, First day of our Vero Return, 27 39.39 N/ 080 22.242 W

We left the turning basin around 0800 and headed for Vero Beach City Marina. The day was perfect for our two hour passage. When we arrived, we asked for a specific mooring ball and they assigned it to us (#16) Not bad. Weather continued to be mild with winds strong enough to keep the no-se-ems at bay. Today, we pumped the dinghy, added an engine, and headed for the dinghy dock. Place is not too crowded but there are a lot of cruisers behind us. We stayed for three weeks, met up with the Boat Harbour gang, and several old and new friends raft with us.
