14 Apr 2013, No Weather for an Outside Passage, 28 37.398 N/ 080 48.282 W

Jule's wonderful weather window (WWW) of last week was gone. Canaveral is not an option as thew barge canal is closed on weekdays. So it will to be on the inside from here (Ft. Pierce) to St. Augustine. Sigh. Yesterday, we left Ft. Pierce and got as far as the anchorage at Cocoa, south of the 528 bridge. Today, we stopped at the Titusville mooring field where we met up with Jean and Bill of SV Soleil Sans Fin. We met them at Vero Beach and spent several enjoyable afternoons with them. It is good to see them again. They invited us to go with them to the local Tiki Hut. Why not. weather is turning foul again so we will stay here tomorrow. Next stop will be Daytona and then St. Augustine.

16 Apr 2013, Onward to St Augustine, 29 53.79 N/ 081 18.564 W

Left Titusville at first light yesterday. We traveled with Soleil Sans Fin going through some really interesting stuff such as fish camps on the Mosquito Lagoon (cheerful name). The water was mostly calm and there was not much current to Daytona Beach. Jule headed for the anchorage at the twin bridges and Soleil was not far behind. We survived the Ponce Inlet intersction with the ICW as it was high tide.
The sunsets on the ICW are often spectacular is it was when this picture was taken. Today, we are heading for St. Augustine where we have reservations for a mooring ball on the North field. Soleil has about 30 minutes ahead of us and chose a ball on the South field. We had suggested against it as it can be shallow. The North field is nicer in all except conditions except extreme blows from the NE. We arrived at our assigned ball at 1700. Not bad
From mooring ball #6, we had a great view of the newly rebuilt Bridge of Lions which has been a pain for cruisers during the construction phase (3 years). We did a bit of shopping, then went to the Sailor's Exchange for some boat stuff, then the Boozeria for Vodka and Gin. We had lunch with Jean and Bill at the Colombian restaurant. Great Cuban food!
