Voyage 2011-2012: Chapter 3

20 Jan 2012, Back to ILM but without the Snow, 34 02.646 N/ 077 53.472 W

We had a quick and comfortable drive back to Wilmington without the snow effects that the grandkids were experiencing in Vienna. Wow, the 'boy' finally got a haircut. Life is good. Back in ILM, we prepared for the return of the Moony crew from Germany. We were waiting for them at the airport at 2200 hours with smiles everywhere. Unfortunately, the camera girl did not take a clear picture. Still, the smiles are forever.

We gave Denise and Wolfgang a few days to recover from their jet lag, and today we set 'sail' in our RVs for a short trip South - of course we took the NC Ferry across the Cape Fear. RV Moony would continue for several months and see the USA until the weather permits a safe transit back to SV Moony in Nova Scotia.

21 Jan 2012, Short stop at Buck Hall, 33 02.286 N/ 079 33.804 W

After crossing the Cape Fear, we took a leisurely drive down US 17 towards Charleston. Halfway between Georgetown and Charleston is a quaint little National Forest Park called Buck Hall. One nice feature here is that it sits on the banks of the ICW. Of course, at this time of year there is no traffic. Firemeister Wolfgang started the ceremonial fire before we all retreated to the RVs for a night's sleep.
