18 Jul 2023, Wales and The Baths, 51 04.86 N/ 01 47.874 W

Today, we headed for Wales to visit the ruines of the Caldicot Castle) and later the Baths in England. The Waterworths and Todds arrived just in time for a picnic. Once full, we headed for the castle which is slowly being restored. It was an interesting self tour including the scary dungeons. There is a lot of money going into this place and it shows.

Our drive back to Salisbury included a major stopover to the Baths where an ancient Roman Bathhouse has uncovered near the center of of the city. The womenfolk headed to the modern 'bath' and spa which was attached to the original springs. Later we toured the town and got lunch at a local restuarant (I think). Last stop stop, before our Salisbury home, was the village of Lacock where the medievel church, St. Anne's is being restored. It is still an active parish church.

20 Jul 2023, Exploring Salisbury and its Surrondings, 51 04.218 N/ 01 47.79 W

The Salisbury Cathedral has been the dominant landmark of this county for centuries. It holds one of the 12 original copies of the Magna Carta; the burial place of many nobelman; the Cathederal of the Bishop of Salisbury. It is a sight that I will not soon forget. We spent several hours there and hope to come back someday.

The Waterburys and Todds then headed to Avebury, the forerunner of Stonehenge.IWe all wandered in separate groups to check the sights and the village, Very peaceful for the the kids and adults alike.

Last stop was Portsmouth, the main military port on the south coat of England. We spent most of the day exploring the facility with lots of pictures, where only a few were included here. We were all tired at the end of the day.
