Cruise 2023: Chapter 1

28 Jul 2023, Akureyri, Iceland, 65 40.82 N/ 018 05.466 W

We were scheduled to stop at another Icelandic port but our draft was too much for the port so we meandered for 24 hours and then arrived in Akureyri today. Akureyri and its surrondings were more attractive and greener than Reykjavik. Today was a slower day with only a waterfall and the a tour of the town on our schedule. But it was nice, relaxing, and quite enjoyable!

30 Jul 2023, On to Norway, 61 55.866 N/ 05 07.32 E

Two more days at sea and we arrived at Ålesund, Norway. Today is Sunday and most stores and many restaurants are closed. There are two cruise ships on the wharf and the Dream is oversized by 100 feet; that is we hang out passed the end of the wharf y nearly a hundred feet. Chris did the Aksla Steps (418 stone steps up`to Mount Aksa). Actually he took a bus up and walked down. Not my cup of tea. I discovered the town below. He enjoyed his thing and I enjoyed mine. The town is a mixture of Europen, Scandinavian, and modern architures. I wish it was not Sunday.
