Yesterday, we continued south paralleling the Florida
coast. Just before dark, we saw a large con-trail originating from the
coast. Then the con-trail abruptly ended only to re-merge further east
in the sky. We later learned that it was a NASA launch and the gap in
the con-trail was the ignition of the second stage. Daytona was abeam at
sunset.

We arrived at the entrance of the Port Canaveral
harbor at 1030 ET. Seas were calm and there was relatively little
traffic. We spent almost two months here in the early 2000's so we
almost consider it home. We passed through the bridges and lock at the
port with little difficulty (except for the small, poorly placed cleats
on the lock wall). We had to wait 20 minutes for the Courtney Parkway
bridge to open. Soon aftwewards, we entered the Indian River Lagoon
and anchor down at 1430 along the Cocoa coastline.

Wow. We have a neighbor. SV Endaxi anchored nearby
around 1600. We waved and chatted and planned with Sally and Bob. They
had been doing the ICW for much of the Florida coast and left from
Titusville today. We will both head to Vero Beach tomorrow. Nice
passage and a great reunion.
