Jule III and Endaxi left Cocoa around 0730 on the 5th of
December. Of course, Endaxi left us in their wake and within 2 hours
they were invisible. Why is Jule so slow. Nobody knows (quote from
Capt. Ron). Well, it is actually because Capt. Bob doesn't like to use
fuel. Slow is cheaper than fast. The stretch from Cocoa to Vero is one
of favorite. Bob's folks lived in this area for many years. Lots of
good memories! We arrived at Vero around 1600 and Endaxi had just moved
from the fuel dock. Jule never does a fuel dock but Capt. Ann insisted.
So we pulled in, filled up everything and headed for mooring ball number 40.

We spent some time with Bob and Sally wandering
the streets and stores of Vero. After a stopover at Cravings for coffee
one afternoon, we did a 'selfie' with the iPhone. Kinda scary. We
probably will not do that again. Navigation through Vero is easy when
you use the free bus system provided by the City.

Cruisers like to eat, drink, and party. Every Thursday
they have a Happy Hour under the Pavilion. Everybody brings food, drink
(happy drinks), and conversation. Great way to meet fellow cruisers.
The month of December has not seen the normal movement in and out of the
harbor. Some is due to the weather and some due to the Holidays. We
tried to escape once but Velcro Beach drew us back. Amazing.

We like, 60-70 other boats, are on a mooring ball. So our main
|
means of transportation is the dinghy. When we want to go to shore, we
go by dinghy. When we want to visit other boats, we go by dinghy. Here
Capt. Bob is driving to town. Capt. Ann is learning the finer parts of
dinghying while here.

As Christmas approached, we put out our Season's finest
decorations. Here you can see our Christmas tree, ornaments, wine
bottle cover, and presents. The only problem is that Sammy Jane keeps
trying to eat the tree. It is a fake tree so it probably will not
sicken her, but the tree cost $7.95. So we shooed her away any time she
tried to nibble on it.

The Advent and Christmas services were wonderful
at Holy Cross Church. We discovered that they have a balcony where one
can see and hear the entire service. Also, it is usually not very
crowded there. We missed one service due to wind and rain. We would
have been soaked taking a wet dinghy ride and a 20 minute walk to church
(no buses on Sunday).
