On the fifth day, we arrived in El Cajon. We came to visit Ann's 'sister' (still too complicated to explain), her family, and her parents. They live in a beautiful part of El Cajon, just outside of San Diego. We were glad that we were stationary for a while. Mattie Kay was glad to find new stuff to explore.
We have not seen Joannie and Bob for a really long time. The years have been kind to them. We had a great time talking, walking, and eating at the local restaurants. Bob and Bob walked every day around the neighborhood. It was hilly. Fortunately, it was not hot. Ann and Joannie talked 'family' stuff.
We visited Nell and Johnny several times during our stay. They live near our temporary homeport. Nell took care of Ann's brother (before there was an Ann) and the families have been close ever since. They are doing OK. It was great seeing them
And then there were the puppies, Nova, Winnie, and Sophie. Nova, a Border Collie, was our walking buddy. She was well behaved, got along with others, and listened attentively. Winnie is a home girl but gets along with the other pups. She was struggling with a variety of maladies, which were later attributed to severe dental issues. They were all fun!

We are off to Wilmington NC to continue work on Jule III. We left El Cajon with a sleepy (other) Bob waved a safe journey wave. We planned on taking I-10 through El Paso, then head up a bit through Dallas and catch up our previous route. The scenery was different but still spectacular.
After leaving El Paso, we were anxious to be home. We hustled through TX, MS, Al, GA, and the Carolinas. Weather was OK but rain was often threatening. One notable observation was the increasing danger of texting while driving. We were really concerned with a tandem UPS driver wandering all over the Interstate. This behavior was especially prominent in the south-central states.
