We made a brief stopover in Yarmouth to check the
berthing options for 2019. We stopped at the Yarmouth Marina to check
out the facilities. Sadly, nobody was around but the marina looked full.
Through the fog, we could see a few boats on moorings and further out we saw
another sailboat at anchor.
Shelburne is our base of operations while in
Nova Scotia. We had hoped that it would be centered around the
Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club, but it was not destined to be. Still, we
knew many people and places that made our visit very enjoyable. We even
sneaked a peak at the Thursday and Saturday keel boat races.
During our first stay in Shelburne, we were moored in the
harbor. Hurricane Arthur was coming to visit and we needed shelter for
the crews of Jule III and SV Moony. Shelburne Harbourside Cottages
offered us a place where Sammy Jane was welcome. It was great! When we
come to Shelburne, we always stay there.
Bob got his exercise by walking through the historical
district down to the Government Wharf and then back again. There was a
lot of activity during the week but closed on the weekend. The Bluenose
II is coming for a visit in early September. Sadly, we will miss it.
We spent some time exploring Lockeport and Port Mouton. Lilli likes the Crescent Beach near Lockeport where she built forts to fight the waves.Sadly, on this day, the waves won (over and over). In Port Mouton, we tried to figure out where we anchored two years ago. We sorta found our anchorage but not exactly.
