31 May 2005, Cruise to Nowhere, 38 51.473 N/ 076 11.040 W

Dogs are healthy, we are healthy, so it is time to do some cruisng on the Chesapeake Bay. We planned a little two week jaunt re-discovering the Eastern shore. We left Baltimore Harbor at 0900 on 29 May with a light NW wind (not enough to assist us on our trip South) to the Wye River. About two hours out, we realized we forgot our cameras. Great! Kinda hard to provide pictures for this log, but we'll work on it. We met SV Legend (Butch and Vicki) about 3 miles South of the Bay Bridge and the two boats headed for Shaw's Bay in the Wye. We arrived there about 1730 where SV Brass Ring (Pete, Karen, and son James) was patiently waiting.

Pete acted as our water taxi driver and ferried us and SV Legend to their boat for hot dogs on the grill. Every one was tired so we all turned the lights out early. The next day, we found ourselves alone as Legend and Brass Ring had to head back for work. Without our water taxi. we pumped up our dinghy and toured Shaws Bay. Later in the afternoon, a squall passed over us with little rain but a fair amount of wind.

02 Jun 2005, A Couple Days in Oxford MD on our Nowhere Cruise, 38 41.784 N/ 076 10.211 W

We left Shaws Bay after a quick breakfast. Wind was light and variable so we had to rely on our iron genny again. We hope this wind thing does not extend too long. We left the Wye River, headed down the Eastern Bay, past the 'new' Poplar Island, around Tighman Island, up the Choptank to the Tred Avon River. At 1500, we dropped anchor near the strand of Oxford MD with three other boats. MV NanSea D (Jaren and Nancy) arrived about a half hour later to share our trip to nowhere. They brought dinner with them. We hopped into our dinghy for a short ride to their boat to have a great home cooked meal.
The next morning, Bob became the water taxi and hustled everybody to shore for breakfast and exploration. Sadly, we could not find a breakfast place, but we toured the various boat yards within Oxford. We had lunch at Schooner's Landing and then retreated back to our boats. We spent a relaxing evening watching the ferry cross the Tred Avon which NanSea D decided to explore the upper reaches of the river (their adventures kept them overnight).
