24 May 2021, On to Cambridge, 38 34.314 N/ 076 04.422 W

We left Oxford at 0900 on May 24 heading down the Tred Avon to the Choptank and then to Cambridge. It was cold with moderate winds with 1-2' seas. Like the Miles River, not much has changed in 20+ years. We were heading to the basin but reports indicated the the bulkhead was in bad shape. We were hoping that the was a place to tie up a dinghy low enough for Ann to go ashore. We arrived in the basin at 1315, inspected the bulkhead and quickly chose to anchor in 10'. One time we were thinking of buying a condo here but never followed up on it.
We called the Snappers restaurant and asked if they had dinghy access to shore. They said they did so we made reservations for 1700. However, at 1600 a strong squall with rain and wind was coming through so we had to cancel. So we got to see the basin again but never left the boat. The night was quiet and cool. Tomorrow we cross the Chesapeake for Solomon's Island.

25 May 2021, Solomon's Island for a Roast Beef, 38 19.872 N/ 076 27.576 W

Jule III Weighed anchor on 25 May at 0615 from Cambridge. It was cold with light winds from the E to SE. It was so cold we closed our little enclosure and started using the autopilot. From Cambridge, it seemed a long way to the Chesapeake, especially as the sea's period shrank from 5 to 3 seconds. As the wind veered more to the SE and the current started to ebb, everything calmed down. At 1330, we entered Back Creek and headed for Zanheizers and grabbed a ball (after an initial miss) at 1345. We lowered the motor to the dinghy and headed for the office, showers, and conversations about Safe Harbor. By now it was hot and shade was at a premium so we decided to head back to the boat.
The next day was Roy Rogers Roast Beef day. We hopped into the dinghy and headed back to Zanheizers. Ann's bp and sp were both bothering her so she decided to take a shower while Bob walked the mile or so to Roy's and get 4 roast beef sandwiches, two for lunch and two for later. It was hot today, again and the walk back was not very nice. My new medication tends to dehydrate me so that did not help. When I got back, Ann had finished her shower, and she was chatting with the locals about stuff. The heat and humidity are darkening the sky and weather reports indicate an active severe thunderstorm warning. We headed back to the boat, raised the dinghy engine, and prepared for tomorrow's departure at 0600. BTW, shower aggravated her shingles.
