We
met many interesting cruisers (is there another kind) at the
marina. Dick and Sarah (aka saratoot) aboard the 54' trawler, M/V
Inspiration, invited us to their boat for a tour and snacks. The
next day, we returned the favor on the S/V Jule III. Sarah and
Dick planned on the same weather window for Fort Pierce so we
agreed to leave together. However, we still had at least one more
day in the Bahamas so we wanted to make it full. We called Hammer
and asked if could take us to Port Lacaya.
Hammer
was running a little late that day. However, we were soon on our
way to Port Lacaya. It was the height of Spring Break so Toby's
thoughts were towards bikinis rather than boat parts. We went to
the Lacayan Market to look for doodads. Of course Ann added to
her pig collection (a cocoanut pig!) as Bob hates pigs!! Toby and
Bob went to the beach to look at the flora and fauna (spring
break, remember). Poor Toby!
On
our way back from Port Lacaya, we asked Hammer if he could take
us to a liquor store in West End. Most alcohol in the Bahamas is
expensive except Rum. Ann wanted to test her skills at making a
Bahama Mama. Toby wanted to make some drinks also. Between the
two of them they bought 6 bottles of rum and a bottle of
grenadine (remember grenadine for later). Afterwards, Hammer
drove us back to the marina. We really enjoyed Hammer's company!
Tomorrow
morning was our weather window and it was closing. We checked out
of the marina with Anna, our gracious assistant harbor master.
Ann and Anna joked around on everything from tee shirts to wrap
skirts. However, Anna didn't give us any slack on the bill. She
was exact in every detail. No problem, mon. The rates were
reasonable and the service great! The last night in the Bahamas
is greeted with a couple of Ann's Bahama Mamas and some strange
concoction made by Toby. Toby drinks too much!!!
